Freelance Shopify & E-commerce Web Design
I’m Marcin, a freelance web designer in Maidstone. I build Shopify and WooCommerce shops for businesses across Kent — designed around how people actually buy, not just how the products look. You deal with me directly, and you get a fixed quote before anything starts. Most of my work is in Kent. Some of it I’ve done without ever meeting the client.
Professional e-commerce website design
Shopify, WooCommerce, or neither yet
Most people arrive knowing they want to sell online and not much beyond that. Part of my job is telling you which platform actually suits your business, including when the answer is the cheaper one.
Shopify
Best if you want to start selling quickly and would rather not think about hosting, security or updates. Shopify handles payments, tax and PCI compliance for you. You pay a monthly fee and you are trading in weeks rather than months.
I design custom Shopify stores rather than dropping your logo into a stock theme, product pages laid out around how people actually buy, a checkout with nothing in the way, and a store you can run yourself without ringing me every time a price changes.
Good fit for: first-time sellers, physical products, anyone who wants low maintenance.
WooCommerce
Best if you already have a WordPress site, want full control over the data, or need something a hosted platform will not do, unusual pricing rules, trade accounts, bookings alongside products, deep content and SEO.
There are no transaction fees beyond your payment provider’s, and the shop is yours outright. The trade-off is that someone has to keep it updated and secure. That is what my maintenance plans are for.
Good fit for: existing WordPress sites, content-heavy shops, anything with unusual requirements.
Not sure?
Tell me what you sell, roughly how many products, and whether you have sold online before. I will tell you which one I would use and why. If your catalogue is six items and you mainly sell in person, I will say that too, sometimes the honest answer is that you do not need a full shop yet.

Online Shop with a Great Web Design
Whether you require a simple WordPress brochure website, an ecommerce website, an online booking platform or a bespoke fully content managed solution, we can help. Our many years of experience of building and designing websites and working for both large businesses and bold new start up ventures means we have a range of options at our finger tips and the right people on board to deliver.
In almost all cases, consumers find product prices are cheaper and the overall online shopping experience is quicker and less stressful than high street shopping. For these reason online retail continues to grow in popularity.
What you get
Every shop I build includes:
- Full control of products, categories, prices, stock and variations: size, colour, whatever you need
- Customer accounts, order management, shipping rules and discount codes
- A mobile-first design, because most of your customers will arrive on a phone
- Secure payments set up and tested card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal
- Product-level SEO so your individual items can rank, not just your homepage
- Speed optimisation, because a slow shop loses sales before anyone sees the product
- A proper handover: a walkthrough and notes so you can run it yourself
What it costs
My e-commerce package starts at £2,699. That covers design, build, product setup, payment and shipping configuration, and getting you live.
What moves the price: the number of products, whether you need a migration from an existing shop, and anything unusual like trade pricing or subscriptions. I will give you a fixed quote before we start — not an hourly rate that drifts.
Ongoing, e-commerce hosting is £65 a month, which covers hosting, backups, security and updates.
Shopify’s own subscription is separate and paid to Shopify. I will tell you which plan you need so you are not paying for features you will not use.
Why work with a freelancer
An agency gives you a team and a process. I give you the person doing the work.
In practice that means you are not paying for account management, and nothing gets lost being passed between people. I have been building websites for over 20 years and I am the one who designs your shop, builds it, and is still there when you need something changed in eighteen months.
It also means being straight with you about scope. If you come to me with a 10,000 product migration that needs a dedicated project team, I will tell you I am not the right fit and point you somewhere better. I would rather do that than take the work and let you down.
How it works
- A conversation. What you sell, who buys it, what has not worked before. Half an hour, no charge, no pitch.
- A fixed quote. What I will build, what it costs, how long it takes. In writing.
- Design. You see the shop before it is built and we change it until it is right.
- Build and populate. I set up products, payments, shipping and tax. If you have an existing shop, I migrate the data.
- Testing. Real test orders on real devices before anything goes live.
- Launch and handover. A walkthrough so you can run it, and me on the end of the phone when you need me.
Serving Kent and beyond
I am based in Maidstone and work with businesses across Kent — Ashford, Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Sittingbourne, Medway and the surrounding towns. Most of the work happens over video and email, so where you are matters less than it used to, but if you would rather sit down together I am happy to.
