You work with me

Not an account manager. Not whoever happens to be free that week. The person you speak to on the first call is the person who designs your site, builds it, and is still here when you need something changed two years later.

That matters more than it sounds. Most of what goes wrong with a website project goes wrong in the gaps — between the person who sold it, the person who designed it, and the person who built it.

I ask a lot of questions first

What do you actually sell? Who buys it, and what were they worried about before they called you? Why do they pick you over the firm two miles away? What does a good enquiry look like, and what does a time-wasting one look like?

I can’t design something that brings in the right work until I understand what makes someone pick up the phone. A site that looks beautiful and attracts the wrong enquiries has failed, it just fails slowly.

Since I’m based in Maidstone, I like to have that first conversation in person if you’re nearby — it’s quicker than email and I get a much better feel for the business. Video works fine too.

I’ll tell you when you don’t need something

If a five-page site would do the job and you’ve asked me for twenty, I’ll say so. If what you actually need is better photographs rather than a new website, I’ll say that too. And if a project is bigger than I should sensibly take on, I’ll tell you and point you somewhere better rather than take the work and let you down. That costs me the occasional job. It’s also the main reason people come back, and why some of the sites I built years ago are still mine to look after.

Who I work with

Businesses across Kent — Maidstone, Ashford, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Sittingbourne and Medway — and plenty further afield, because most of the work happens over email and video anyway.

Over the years it’s concentrated around two groups:

Tradespeople. Electricians, plumbers, roofers, carpenters, gas engineers, painters and builders. The job is turning a local search into a phone call, and the sites are built around that one thing.

Professional services. Accountants, solicitors and therapists. Different problem — here the site has to build enough trust that someone is willing to have the first conversation at all.

I work in Polish as well as English, which a few of my clients find easier.

What I actually do

Websites in WordPress. Online shops in Shopify and WooCommerce. After launch: hosting, maintenance, security updates, and SEO when you want to be found rather than just findable.

I’d rather keep looking after a site than hand it over and disappear. It’s better for you, and honestly it’s more interesting work than starting from scratch every time.
